She has blonde hair that falls well past her shoulders to graze the small of her back and chocolate brown eyes. Not one for wearing dresses since she was a young girl, Grace can normally be found in attire generally worn by the opposite gender. Given that she tends to help work the ranch the wearing of men's clothing, as opposed to a woman's attire, just seems to be more practical. This is not to say that she wouldn't be caught dead in a dress, it just a rarity to find Grace in one. Her outfits are more often then not completed with a dark brown leather duster, which just happens to be one of her favorite articles of clothing. Personality: Grace is no longer the sweet little daddy's girl she had been in her childhood. The harsh realities of life have left her a bit rough around the edges. Definitely not want one would define as a "lady". She's not the type that is overly friendly toward strangers, show up on her property unannounced and you could very well find yourself standing face to face with the barrel of a shotgun. Her trust is not easily given, but once it is given a strong and loyal friendship is gained, though shatter that trust and you will most likely find yourself with a lifetime enemy. Grace is a strong willed woman with a fierce determination to accomplish anything she has set forth as a goal. Her main goal in life is to see that the ranch her father started years back becomes the successful dream he had envisioned. She's level headed and not easily riled to the full force of her temper. She's got a bit of a sarcastic bite, which shows on occasion. And she hates being called Gracie by those outside her little family circle(her brother, uncle and cousins). Special Skills/Weapons Used: Grace is real good with horses having spent a good chunk of her life around them. She can ride as good as any man she knows. She's also familiar with firearms, though not an expert marksman, Grace knows how to handle guns. She also knows first aid. Weaknesses: Grace can't cook to save her life. It's not for a lack of trying on her part, attempts have been made at it, but the end result always seemed to turn out the same. Most of what she sought out to make seemed to end up on the burnt and extra crispy side. Grace is also a bit claustrophobic. Used to the wide open outdoors should Grace find herself in small enclosed spaces she starts feeling like a caged animal. History: Grace was born to Matthew and Sara Sackett on April 21, 1842 in the river port city oif St. Louis, Missouri. The younger of the couples two children, a span of three years separated Grace from her older brother. The first seven years of her life were spent growing up in the city. Grace's mother died of cholera in 1849 when the epidemic struck the town, and after another disaster struck the city, A fire within the same year claimed more lives and destroyed much of the town, Matthew Sackett packed up his children and joined others that were migrating west. The trail west brought the Sackett family to Shelby. Matthew could have joined the hundreds of other in a search for gold when they reached the area, but word circling around was that there were more strike outs then actual strikes. Matthew, never having been one to take much of a gamble on risky ventures, decided on something that'd have a more stable outcome. A ranch. Wild horses roamed freely, there for the taking. Grace's father knew horses having spent his youth growing up on his father's ranch. Staking a claim on a parcel of land, the building of a house soon followed along with the rounding up of a select few form a wild herd that roamed near the vicinity of the blossoming town. The new life that Matthew had brought his children into lasted less then a handful of years. Grace's father had been one of the few that dared make a stand against the Dooger Brothers band of outlaws, a stand that had cost the family dearly. Matthew was shot and killed. What horses the gang chose not to take were either scattered or killed. The house burned to the ground before the eyes of Grace and her brother. After seeing their father put to a final rest, Grace and her brother were sent across the ocean to Australia and the only known family they had left. While Grace adjusted to life on her uncle's ranch, her brother never quite felt he fit in there. When world filtered in of the war between the States, Grace's brother left to go join the fight in the land of his birth. Daddy's little girl is now back to reclaim what had once been her family's. Back for a year now with a cousin to help in getting the ranch back on its feet. Grace is determined to see that the dream envisioned by her father is seen through into full realization. | |||||||||
